Arizona
Since moving to Scottsdale in 2018, we’ve explored the state from top to bottom, and there’s something for every kind of traveler.
Start with the Valley: Phoenix and Scottsdale offer incredible hiking (like Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak and many more that aren't so well-known), top-tier restaurants, and live entertainment that rivals bigger cities. Catch a comedy show downtown or hop on a pedal pub bike in Old Town, the energy is always buzzing.
Go 2 hours north to Flagstaff for pine forests and cool mountain air, or to Sedona, where red rock formations and vortex hikes make for a stunning escape. Both are perfect for weekend getaways, especially in fall or spring.
Southern Arizona has its own flavor. Tucson is known for its desert beauty and food scene (I have an enchilada spot that will melt in your mouth), while Bisbee, Jerome, and Tombstone offer small-town charm, artsy vibes, and Wild West history. These towns are full of character—think haunted hotels, mine tours, and local galleries. For a slower pace, Prescott and Payson are great spots to unwind. Lakes, trails, and cozy cafés make them ideal for a quiet retreat.
Being married to an Arizona native, we love to share the desert magic with others and we know it best!
