San Francisco
If you’re craving a mix of nature, history, and iconic cityscapes, San Francisco is the perfect blend. It’s walkable, photogenic, and packed with personality—with foggy mornings to golden sunsets.
Start with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Whether you bike it or stroll it, the views of the bay, Alcatraz, and the Marin Headlands are breathtaking. It’s one of those “I’m really here” moments.
Then head into the woods—literally. Muir Woods National Monument, just a short drive north, is a peaceful escape into towering redwoods. The air smells like pine and the quiet is a welcome contrast to the city buzz.
Back in town, don’t miss the Painted Ladies—those iconic Victorian homes with the city skyline behind them. It’s postcard-perfect, especially from Alamo Square Park. And yes, you’ll probably hum the Full House theme while you’re there.
History buffs and thrill-seekers alike should hop a ferry to Alcatraz Island. The audio tour is immersive, and the views from the prison yard are hauntingly beautiful. It’s one of those places that sticks with you.
On Saturday mornings, head to the Ferry Building Marketplace downtown. The farmers market is a feast for the senses—fresh produce, artisan cheeses, pastries, and coffee that’ll make you linger. Grab a bite and watch the ferries come and go.
And if you’ve got a little extra time? Rent a car and drive north to Napa Valley. The wine is world-class, but the real magic is the cute downtown square. While over there, take Shoreline Highway for a scenic route along the coast, where you might spot whales breaching in the surf.
