While many head straight to Amsterdam and squeeze in a day trip to the Keukenhof tulip gardens, there’s so much more to explore beyond the usual stops. In March 2025, I planned a road trip for my mom and me that uncovered the country’s most charming towns and scenic gems.
We wandered through the tulip fields of Lisse, spent a cozy night in Gouda, cruised the canals alongside the UNESCO-listed windmills of Kinderdijk, and explored the enchanting waterways of Giethoorn — often called the “Dutch Venice.”
If you’re a flower lover or just craving a unique European escape, this itinerary is a bucket list experience waiting to happen.
